N11FE FM2 "Wildcat"

N11FE This FM2 Wildcat was trucked into our facility from Kissemmee, FL with an unusable Wright R-1820-56 engine that had made metal due to a bent link rod and an improper start-up procedure. We documented all the attachments and linkages, and removed the engine for overhaul, only to find out that the engine was beyond repair. A different newly overhauled engine will be arriving shortly.

UPDATE The new engine has arrived, and we are in the process of re-installing all the sub-assemblies as well as re-painting the engine compartment and engine mount.

8/27/08   Another Wildcat takes to the air! The engine installation completed (with a new AirWolf remote oil system, and a pre-oil/starter-interrupt fail safe mechanism) and the run-up tests in the green, N11FE took to the skies for the first time in years, under the capable hands of test-pilot Mike Burke. After some minor adjustments to the propeller RPM, and the flap vacuum system, the Wildcat left for home.
